Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh offered a sincere apology to Kannada actor Rishab Shetty for imitiating a scene from Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, clarifying that his intent was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
Both actors marked their presence at the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on 28 November. On the stage, Ranveer Singh heaped praise on Rishab Shetty for serving a thrilling performance in Kantara – Chapter 1, and imitated a scene from the film, however, his intention was not well-received online.
In response, Ranveer took to his social media handle to issue a public apology, stating that he has always deeply respected culture and tradition. In addition to this, he even praised Rishab Shetty for his performance.
“My intention was to highlight Rishab’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration,” he wrote on his Instagram story. “I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise,” he added. And his candid apology highlights that accountability and admiration can coexist gracefully in the industry.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is gearing up for his upcoming film, Dhurandhar. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. Dhurandhar is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. Dhurandhar is slated to release on 5th December 2025.
